Hypocrite Much? Patriots’ Jack Jones Gets Arrested At Airport For The Same Act He Criticised Ja Morant

After NBA punished Morant for 25 games for his second gun incident in three months, Patriots Jack Jones was arrested just hours after.

The appropriate term may be karma. It might be hypocrisy. Or perhaps irony. Maybe stupidity.

Prior to his own arrest on several charges for attempting to get two firearms past security at Logan International Airport, Patriots cornerback Jack Jones criticized NBA player Ja Morant on social media for his own gun concerns.

Hypocrite Much? Patriots’ Jack Jones Gets Arrested At Airport For The Same Act He Criticised Ja Morant

The Patriots cornerback was detained on Friday at Boston’s Logan Airport after reportedly trying to board an aircraft with two loaded weapons in his carry-on luggage.

However, Jones criticized Grizzlies player Ja Morant for a comparable event a little over a month prior.

Said Jones on Twitter, via Matt Vautour of MassLive.com: “@JaMorant dumb … you letting social media and yo pride ruin yo real money. Put them guns down and run that money up. Make one of yo homies sign up for security or concealed carry if you feel like you need it that bad.. but you the bread winner you gotta start acting like it.”

Jones is currently charged with ten different criminal offenses, including two counts for each of the following: carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition possession without a firearm identification card, and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

In a strip club in March, Morant recorded himself on Instagram Live while holding a gun to his face.

He was eventually given an eight-game NBA suspension, and Morant expressed regret.

However, after his buddy captured him on a different Instagram Live, another video showing Morant pointing a gun about in a car surfaced in May.

However, Morant’s side asserts that he was gesturing with a toy gun.

Before receiving the 25-game suspension on Friday, he was placed on indefinite suspension while the league conducted an investigation.

Jones was arrested and his bail was set at $50,000 at the State Police-Logan Airport Barracks. On Tuesday, he will be formally charged at East Boston District Court.

The Patriots issued a statement after the 25-year-old cornerback’s arrest late on Friday night.

“We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier today,” the team wrote in the statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time.”

Jones is entering his second season in the NFL after a standout rookie year, recording two interceptions and 30 tackles.

The Patriots selected Jones in the fourth round of the 2022 draft.
